Judy has 25 years of development and fundraising experience, much of it in establishing and growing charitable foundations.
As president and CEO of the Community Foundation for the Capital Region in Albany, NY, Judy transformed the organization from a fledgling foundation to Northeastern New York’s Regional Center for Charitable Giving. She grew the foundation’s endowment from $700,000 to $32 million, established nearly 200 charitable funds, and implemented a comprehensive grantmaking program that distributed more than $18 million.
Since relocating to Palm Beach in 2004, Judy has worked to facilitate more effective philanthropy. She was instrumental in expanding the Donor’s Forum of South Florida into Palm Beach County. Through her involvement with the Palm Beach Leadership Institute, she helped spearhead a leadership-training program for managers of nonprofit organizations and the Palm Beach County School District.
Judy volunteers as a member of the Community Investment Committee of the Palm Healthcare Foundation. She also continues to work to strengthen community foundations nationwide, as a consultant and reviewer for the National Standards of U.S. Community Foundations, a program of the Council on Foundations. Judy holds a bachelor’s degree from Connecticut College.
Judy grew up in Stamford, Connecticut, and moved to Albany as a young married woman. She and her husband, Ken, have two grown children – Liz, who lives with her family in the Washington, D.C., area, and Ed, who lives with his family in Santa Fe, New Mexico. She also has four grandchildren, ranging in ages from 5 to 16.
Having lived in the northeast all of her life, Judy is thrilled to be living in sunny and warm south Florida. As well as consulting on behalf of CP&A, Judy and Ken work as a team selling real estate in Palm Beach. It appears Judy “failed retirement” when she left Albany to move to Florida!
In her spare time, Judy loves yoga, swimming, the beach, reading and traveling. Santa Fe is a particularly favorite summer destination – not just because of two adorable grandkids, but because it is truly an enchanting city.
