As head of Charlotte Pelton & Associates, Inc., Charlotte is responsible for oversight and direction in all aspects of the company’s projects and campaigns. She and her team of professionals provide consulting services, focusing their 100+ years of experience in the areas of planning, marketing and resource development.
With more than 30 years of professional experience, Charlotte developed strong creative and analytical skills while working in the insurance, hospitality and utility industries. She first honed her analytical abilities as Director of Rates and Underwriting for Blue Cross Blue Shield in Memphis, TN. A successful track record there led to an opportunity to join Holiday Inns, Inc., where she worked in Corporate Strategic Planning, helping develop their first computer-based analytical systems for a restaurant subsidiary.
In 1980, Charlotte joined FPL in Miami, Florida, where she worked in the Rate, Load Research, Marketing and Economic Development departments over an 11 year span. During her tenure, she participated on a company-wide team working with the international consulting firm of McKinsey & Company to development a ten year strategic plan. She also served as a team member in FPL’s quest for the prestigious Deming Award for Quality, taking advantage of the opportunity to learn additional skills that continue to serve her today.
Upon moving to Palm Beach County in 1990, Charlotte gained extensive non-profit experience, serving as COO, CFO and Director of Marketing Services for the Palm Beach County Cultural Council, a unique and singular position that allowed her to work with corporate, philanthropic, cultural and tourism related entities throughout South Florida. It was this experience in working for a non-profit that led her to begin her work as a consultant, a career that now spans 15 years.
Charlotte earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (Marketing) from the University of Southern Mississippi, and began her fund raising experience while serving as a volunteer for the United Way while living in Memphis. She is a member of MENSA, the Association of Fundraising Professionals, and Executive Women of the Palm Beaches, where she was named Member of the Year in 2009. Charlotte serves on the advisory board of the Arthur R. Marshall Foundation, and most recently was tapped to serve on the board of the Menopause & Women’s Health Research Center of the Torrey Pines Institute for Molecular Studies.
Previous board service has included the Palm Beach International Film Festival, Florida Stage, Executive Women of the Palm Beaches, Executive Women Outreach where she served as its board chair, and the Suncoast High School Foundation where she served for eight years and as its founding chair.
Charlotte and her husband, Larry, have four children and six grandchildren, and in her free time she loves cooking, gardening and mosaic art.
